Agency, freelancer or DIY? Where Vivonoma fits
You run the business. You also answer the emails, chase the invoices and write the posts. Often that happens in the evening, when you are tired. And when you want help, you may not know where to start.
That is a heavy way to work, and many small business owners know it well. Here are the usual ways to get help, in plain words, and where Vivonoma fits. Four questions make the choice easier. Who does the work? Who plans it? How is it paid? What is left for you?
Doing it yourself
You know your business best, and there is no fee. The price is your time. You plan, write, post and fix what goes wrong, usually after the real work is done. It suits owners who enjoy it and have the hours.
Many owners add a social media tool. Tools like these schedule and publish your posts. You still write them and decide what to say. As of October 2026, Buffer has a free plan for up to 3 channels. Its Essentials plan is $5 per channel a month on yearly billing, or $6 on monthly billing. As of October 2026, Hootsuite lists its Standard plan at $99 per user a month, billed annually, for up to 10 social accounts. Prices change, so check each page before you decide.
A freelancer
A freelancer is one person working for you. You get someone who can learn your style and talk things through. You still brief them and approve their work, and you often help decide the plan. Rates vary a lot between freelancers, so we give no figure here. Ask what is included, how many posts that means, who approves them, and what the contract terms are.
An agency
An agency is a team. It brings several skills in one place and often proposes the strategy. That can be a real relief if you do not know where to start. You still review and approve, and you still need time for the conversations. Agency rates vary too. Ask the same questions before you sign.
Side by side
| Option | Who does the work | Who plans | How it is paid | Left for you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Doing it yourself (with or without a tool) | You | You | Your time, plus a tool subscription if you use one | Everything |
| Freelancer | One person | You, or shared | Set by the freelancer | Briefing, review, approval |
| Agency | A team | Often the agency proposes | Set by the agency | Review and approval |
| Vivonoma | AI agents | Vivonoma plans the next work; you set the direction | Credits per action, with plans from $20 a month | Deciding what is approved and published |
The "who plans" column is our general judgement, not a figure from a source.
Where Vivonoma fits
Vivonoma does the work of your company with AI agents. It writes the documents your company works from: market research, a roadmap, a design guide and a feature list. It plans the next most valuable work, and planning costs 0 credits. Then it does the work: research, posts, emails, video ads on plans that include them, and changes to your website. Every company also gets its own email address and a daily report.
You need no technical knowledge. Vivonoma does the work. You decide.
You choose how it runs. In Manual mode, you start each task. In Auto mode, tasks start by themselves, within your plan's credits. By default, a post goes out when you press. You can also switch a connected channel to post by itself. It posts at most once a day, and you are told each time.
Work is paid in credits. A post, a task or an email written for you costs 1 credit. On the pricing page, Standard is $20 a month for 20 credits, Pro is $50 for 50 credits and Max is $100 for 100 credits. Paying yearly gives 2 months free, and the credits still arrive monthly. Extra credit packs are available. Vivonoma handles the work it supports within your credits, while you decide what is approved and published.
It does not do everything yet. X is the channel you can connect today. Facebook and Instagram, Google Business, YouTube and TikTok are coming soon. Newsletters to many people at once are not built yet. If you need those today, another option may serve you better.
An example
This is an example, not a customer's result.
Imagine a shop owner with a sale next week. She has no evening to spare. She asks Vivonoma for a post about the sale. It writes a draft, for 1 credit. She reads it, changes a word if she likes, and presses Post. The post goes to X. She decided what went out, and she did not have to write it.
Which should you pick?
Do it yourself if you enjoy it and have the time. Add a tool if you like writing and want help with scheduling. Choose a freelancer or an agency if you want people who know the craft and can talk it through. Vivonoma may suit you if you want the work done, and want to decide rather than do.
